Sharjah Airport handles more than 390,000 passengers in peak summer week

Sharjah International Airport saw a surge in passenger traffic during the peak summer travel period, handling over 390,000 passengers in a single week from August 10 to 16. The airport saw more than 175,000 passengers arriving and around 151,000 departing, with over 66,000 transit passengers. This week was particularly busy, with 2,350 flights operating, comprising 1,175 arrivals and 1,175 departures, connecting to more than 100 international destinations.

The peak day of the week was August 15, with 48,859 passengers arriving and departing, including 25,251 arrivals and 23,608 departures. Popular destinations such as Cairo, Doha, Dhaka, and Amman continued to attract travelers, indicating sustained demand for travel to key regional and international markets. Sharjah Airport anticipates handling around three million passengers and 19,000 aircraft movements during July and August.

The airport's Director, Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, highlighted the airport's readiness and efficiency in handling the increased passenger numbers, collaborating with strategic partners to ensure smooth operations and expedite travel procedures.
