Wolfsburg - VW-Betriebsratschefin Daniela Cavallo harshly criticized the company's management, particularly Oliver Blume, during a works assembly in Wolfsburg. Cavallo, according to sources from the attendee group at the main factory, damaged trust in Blume. "Cooperating with a CEO who doesn't tell his people the facts is impossible," Cavallo stated, referring to the communication surrounding planned cost-cutting measures.

Blume emphasized during the assembly the need for further cost-cutting measures. "We need to reduce complexity, streamline our structures, and cut costs," the VW chief said in his speech. The meeting at the company's headquarters marked the start of a series of assemblies at several VW locations, where the management is expected to answer to the workforce.

Since the announcement of additional cost-cutting measures in recent months, the world's largest automaker has been fighting to eliminate tens of thousands of positions and close four plants. An oversight committee meeting is scheduled for early September.
