RoboCop TV Show Casts Dan Stevens as Its Star

Prime Video's RoboCop reboot series has cast Dan Stevens, known for his role in Downton Abbey, as the new Alex Murphy. Stevens will portray the cop-turned-robot, a character first played by Peter Weller in the original 1987 film. The untitled series, rumored to be in development since Amazon purchased MGM in 2022, is set to premiere on Prime Video.

The logline for the show reads: "A giant tech conglomerate convinces the city to place a powerful robot on its police force — a robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer." Notable figures such as Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and James Wan are executive producers, alongside showrunner Peter Ocko and Blumhouse Atomic Monster's Danielle Bozzone.

Original RoboCop writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner are also part of the production team. Wan praised the project for delivering a modern, tech-driven take on the iconic character.
