Regenxbio appoints Greg Ciongoli to board of directors

Regenxbio has appointed Greg Ciongoli to its board of directors, effective immediately. Ciongoli, founder and managing partner of Adiumentum Capital Management, brings extensive experience in capital structure optimization and asset allocation strategy to the company. Prior to this role, he spent over a decade at The Baupost Group, where he served as a partner and led investments in various industries.

Currently, Ciongoli serves as the board chairman of Atara Biotherapeutics and is a board member at Zymeworks Inc. The appointment follows the retirement of two board members, Jerry Karabelas and Jean Bennett. Curran Simpson, president and CEO of Regenxbio, stated that the company is entering a new growth phase and aims to benefit from Ciongoli's diverse expertise in scientific, clinical, commercial, and capital markets areas.

Regenxbio, a biotechnology firm developing gene therapies for rare and retinal diseases, has an expanding pipeline including RGX-202 for Duchenne, RGX-121 for MPS II and RGX-111 for MPS I, all in collaboration with other companies. Ciongoli holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree from Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs.
