Plenty of carries, never enough cookies

Woodmore's Lucas Caldwell counts laughing, football collisions and cookies as his favorite three things. As one of three running backs on the Wildcats, he looks forward to numerous opportunities to collide with opponents. Last season's top rusher, Landon Rich, no longer has many carries this year. Caldwell, junior Auden Hemminger and junior Ish Nagy will rotate through carries in the Wildcats' wing-T offense, which masks who has the ball.

Caldwell even took a tackle downfield, without the ball, and made an open-field hit to stop a kick return, excite his teammates. High school football Konner Dauch has more responsibilities, with senior Cole Potridge as another option. Caldwell's coach, Seth Dufendock, prepares the running backs for the physicality of the game, as Caldwell grew up a bit after recognizing the jump to varsity.

He desires to be told if he does something wrong, so he can improve. The Wildcats' assistant coach mentioned the team's desire to run it down their opponents and Caldwell's enthusiasm for the game, running, blocking, and passing routes. Caldwell had 102 yards and two touchdowns in Woodmore's 61-7 victory over New London, being far from satisfied and wanting to score, run, block and pass. He expressed his excitement for his larger role and appreciation for the coaching staff's support.
