MK Sukkot seen smashing monument in West Bank town while guarded by Israeli forces, footage shows

MK Zvi Sukkot, a member of the Religious Zionist Party, was captured on video breaking a monument in the West Bank town of Kafr Madama, near Nablus, on Tuesday morning, according to footage shared by Israeli media outlets. The footage shows Sukkot smashing the monument with a sledgehammer while being accompanied by Israeli forces, whose vehicles blocked the street.

The MK can also be seen filming the incident on his personal phone. Israeli forces were guarding Sukkot and the others present in the footage, as the visit was reportedly coordinated with the IDF. A security source revealed that while the visit to Kafr Madama was coordinated with the IDF, smashing the monument was not. The Jerusalem Post has contacted the IDF and the Religious Zionist Party for clarification.

MK Yair Golan accused Sukkot of being the reason the IDF was diverted to the West Bank on the eve of the October 7 massacre. Another member of the Democratic party, MK Gilad Kariv, criticized Sukkot's actions and the IDF's involvement, stating that the military had denied consistent requests to escort Kariv to Kusra due to a lack of available forces.

Kahanist leader Yair Golan called for the removal of Knesset members like Sukkot from positions of power and for Israel to return to a path of a secure, democratic, and sane state.
