MetMalaysia warns of sustained hot spell, 17 areas nationwide placed under caution status

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Level 1 hot weather status for 17 areas across the country, including Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. Eleven of the affected regions are located in Peninsular Malaysia, including Larut and Matang, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, Batang Padang, Kuala Krai, Kuantan, Raub, Temerloh, Pekan, Hulu Selangor, and Gombak.

Five areas in Sabah - Telupid, Tenom, Sandakan, Pitas, and Beluran - and Marudi in Sarawak are also under the same warning. The Level 1 alert is triggered when the maximum daily temperature in a region remains between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
