Melaka Bersatu open to exploring cooperation with PH

Melaka Bersatu is open to exploring potential political cooperation, particularly with Pakatan Harapan, ahead of the state election, according to information chief Hishamuddin Abdul Karim. The party is ready to engage in discussions that align with its strategic interests and provide people with a better choice. However, such cooperation must exclude parties that have previously betrayed trust and spirit of cooperation within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

Hishamuddin emphasized that any negotiations or understanding would ultimately be subject to the wisdom and decision of the party's central leadership. With the PN experiencing a realignment and the recent election results in Negeri Sembilan and Johor, Melaka Bersatu will thoroughly evaluate the experience and factors before making decisions.

The party's early mobilization of its election machinery aims to prepare for the Melaka election. The divisions have been asked to prepare comprehensive reports on their election machinery, local political landscape, potential candidates, and proposed seats for assessment. Regarding the use of the party's logo, Hishamuddin stated that the Melaka chapter is ready to contest the state election under whichever arrangement the party decides.

The Melaka state assembly must seek a new mandate by February next year. In the previous election, Bersatu secured two of its 28 contested seats under the PN banner - Bemban and Sungai Udang.
