The second leg of Independiente del Valle versus Deportes Tolima in Quito is the headline story for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, on the Latin American sports scene. The match was reprogrammed after the earthquake in Colombia, and the Ecuadorian side currently leads 1-0 on aggregate. The altitude advantage is significant for Independiente del Valle, as Deportes Tolima will need to score against the home team.
The fixture is part of CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores, one of Latin America's most competitive club competitions. The away goals rule was scrapped in 2022, so any draw sends Independiente del Valle through to the quarter-finals. The match is scheduled for Tuesday at Estadio Banco Guayaquil in Quito.
