IGP Special Operations Team arrests seven in narcotics crackdown in Ashanti Region

The IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) conducted an intelligence-driven operation against narcotics activities in the Ashanti Region, arresting seven individuals on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The raids took place in Ejisu, Abrepo Junction, and Atimatim. The police described the operation as a response to intelligence on suspected narcotic activities in the area, aiming to apprehend those involved in possession, control, and use of narcotics.

In Ejisu, Nana Kwadwo Adu, 43, and Nana Kwame Fella, 48, were apprehended. In Abrepo Junction, Stephanie Anokye, 23; Roland Anokye, 20; Gideon Owusu, 30; and Grace Fosua, 27, were also arrested. Atimatim saw the arrest of Kofi Opoku, 27, who allegedly peddled narcotics and had a history of evading previous arrests.

The operation resulted in the seizure of various narcotics, including pill pouches containing dried leaves, Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg, Rophynol 100mg, and 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol. These substances were suspected to be unregistered drugs. Additionally, an unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency was recovered during the raids.

All seven suspects are currently under police custody and are cooperating with the investigation. The police are working to uncover the source of the narcotics, assess the full extent of the suspects' involvement, and identify any additional individuals connected to the activities. The police have encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to aid in maintaining public safety and security, promising further updates on the ongoing investigation.
