IERPP demands answers from GoldBod over reports that the quarterly trading reports have disappeared from website

The Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) has called on the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to provide answers about the disappearance of their quarterly trading reports from the GoldBod website. The IERPP questions the removal of these reports, stating that they raise concerns about transparency, accountability, and compliance with law governing an institution responsible for a significant part of Ghana’s gold trade.

The IERPP demands to know who authorized the removal, when it occurred, why it took place, and if any figures in the reports were altered. Section 42 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140) mandates GoldBod to publish quarterly reports on its activities for transparency and accountability, and Section 42(2) requires access to these reports for the public.

IERPP argues that the reports' accessibility is crucial for citizens and Parliament to scrutinize GoldBod's transactions involving Ghana’s gold resources and public finances. The reports cover areas such as the Board's operations, revenue, contracts, expenditure, responsible sourcing, and traceability. The disappearance of these reports may hinder the public's ability to track GoldBod’s operations and compare information released over time.
