From the Urdu Press: ‘Rahul Gandhi amplifies women’s voices against patriarchy’, ‘Gen Z angst puts heat on BJP’

The Urdu press has been closely monitoring the evolving political landscape in the country, particularly focusing on issues that impact youths and Gen Z. Two prominent stories have captured the attention of the dailies - Rahul Gandhi's engagement with students and women, and the increasing angst among the younger generation.

In an editorial on August 24, Siasat reported on Rahul Gandhi's "Chhatron ki Goonj" program in Pune, where he addressed pressing concerns among young students and women. The event received an overwhelming response, as Rahul passionately criticized the patriarchal system, highlighting gender inequality. The BJP, however, labeled the event a "political comedy show."

Meanwhile, URI TIMES editorial on August 22 highlighted the consequences of a recent protest by student demonstrators. Rahul Gandhi's seven-hour dharna at Parliament Street police station, following the July 20 march, resulted in the registration of an FIR over pellet injuries sustained by a 19-year-old protester, Sahil Lochab. Rahul's persistent focus on the issue pressured the government to lodge the FIR, indicating the use of pellet guns during the protests.

The BJP had previously denied such claims, but Rahul's unwavering stance led to the police's eventual action.

Beyond Rahul Gandhi's initiatives, the Urdu press has been grappling with the mounting challenges faced by common people in daily life. Siasat's August 23 leader pointed out that while the ruling dispensation continues to pursue a divisive agenda, the country's education system remains broken, plagued by inequalities, funding issues, and irregularities such as paper leaks.

Additionally, the nation struggles with a deepening unemployment crisis, disproportionately affecting youths, and the government has failed to address the pressing concerns of women and vulnerable sections. The rising prices of essential commodities, particularly food items, have exacerbated the situation, leading to growing discontent among the youth, who are now demanding change.
