EKSU to graduate pioneer securities trading students

Ekiti State University in Ado-Ekiti will soon graduate the first group of students from its Professional Diploma Programme in Securities Trading and Financial Markets, projected to conclude before the end of 2026. This was revealed in a recent statement. The eight-month programme, approved by the university Senate on February 25, 2026, aims to provide students with practical skills necessary for careers in the financial markets.

The statement explained that the programme blends theoretical instruction with practical simulations, offering hands-on knowledge in risk management, investment strategies, and global market trading. Conducted in a CFA Institute-backed Training Room, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's vision. Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, an academician, emphasized the importance of the programme in addressing the gap between traditional university education and the practical skills needed in today's capital markets.

The programme offers students access to practical trading, simulated dealing rooms, and global virtual work experiences, preparing them to excel in the financial industry from the onset of their careers. Bomo Anthony, General Manager of the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation, highlighted the transformation of students from theoretical learners to practical traders, emphasizing the programme's role in shaping future leaders in the financial sector.

Applications for the next cohort will be open at the start of the new academic year, with plans to expand the programme to accommodate more students.
