EKSU to graduate pioneer securities trading students

Ekiti State University plans to graduate the first group of students from its newly launched Professional Diploma Programme in Securities Trading and Financial Markets by the end of 2026. The eight-month program, which was approved by the university Senate in February 2026, combines theoretical instruction with practical simulations to equip students with the skills needed for careers in the financial markets.

The training takes place in a CFA Institute-backed Training Room, designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world financial markets. Dr Tunji Olowolafe, an academician, emphasized that the programme aims to address the gap between conventional university education and the practical skills required in modern capital markets.

The General Manager of the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation, Bomo Anthony, highlighted that the programme provides students with hands-on experience, enabling them to move from theoretical learning to practical application. EKSU and the foundation plan to open applications for the next cohort at the beginning of the new academic year, with the aim of expanding the programme to accommodate more students.
