Apple’s new Mac mini could show up any day now, and it might beat the iPhones to the punch

Apple is set to release a refreshed version of its Mac mini, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The update could arrive within days, even before Apple unveils its upcoming iPhone lineup. The demand for the current Mac mini has surged due to its popularity among AI model enthusiasts, and this has been compounded by a memory chip shortage that's made the machine difficult to keep in stock.

Apple has tested both M5 and M6 chip versions for the update, but it's unclear which one will be chosen. Despite the chip shortage, the new model's potential to ease delivery times remains uncertain. Apple has also announced plans to start manufacturing the Mac mini in Houston later this year, as part of its broader strategy to bring more production back to the United States.

This refresh marks the last big launch under Tim Cook's tenure, as he steps down as CEO on September 1, with John Ternus taking over the role. Apple is expected to unveil other Mac updates later, including a refreshed MacBook Pro and an iMac with new color options, both running on M6 chips. Additionally, Apple is set to introduce its first touchscreen computer, which will be integrated into the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring redesigned cases and OLED screens.
