US nutrition startup Berry Street merges with India’s Healthify as GLP-1 trends upwards
Berry Street founder Noah Kotlove and Healthify founder Tushar Vashisht will act as co-CEOs of the new entity.
U.S. nutrition startup Berry Street announced on Monday a merger with Indian company Healthify, driven by the growing popularity of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to a JP Morgan report, over 30 million individuals in the U.S. are projected to be on GLP-1 medications by 2030.
The merged entity will be led jointly by Berry Street's Noah Kotlowe and Healthify's Tushar Vashisht. In the U.S., the company will be known as Berry Street, while Healthify will retain its name in other markets like India. Healthify, which has secured more than $150 million in funding, provides AI-powered and human fitness and nutritional coaching through an app.
Last year, Healthify expanded its operations in the U.S. and introduced GLP-1-aided programs in India, serving more than 45 million customers. Vashisht, Healthify's CEO, stated that Berry Street will provide the clinical backbone and coverage infrastructure to deliver their promise at scale in the U.S. market. Berry Street boasts a network of over 2,000 clinics and offers insurance-covered GLP-1 care.
The company raised $50 million in a funding round last year from Northzone, Sofina, and FJ Labs. Healthify and Berry Street aim to build a platform that redefines metabolic care by offering daily nutrition guidance and expert dietitian advice to everyone, backed by AI and a nationwide network of expert clinicians.
