Troops recover body with gunshot wound in Plateau

Operation Enduring Peace forces have retrieved a body bearing a gunshot wound in Riyom, a locality within Plateau State. According to security officials, the remains were discovered around 9:30 pm on August 23, 2026, close to the Primary Health Centre along the Farin Lamba axis. Sector 6 troops were alerted to the incident and found the body, which bore a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

However, upon inspection, no visible blood trails or shell casings were detected, leading investigators to question if the victim had been transported and disposed of at this site. The remains were subsequently transferred to the mortuary at the Primary Health Centre in Riyom. The local Tahoss Community leader was consulted to aid in identifying the deceased.

Law enforcement personnel have maintained a presence in the vicinity while authorities work to ascertain the victim's identity and the circumstances of their demise.
