Five main Kajang roads to close from Wednesday for Merdeka eve

KUALA LUMPUR – Kajang will experience road closures over the next few days as preparations continue for the Merdeka Eve Celebration at Kajang Stadium, reported the New Straits Times. Five main roads surrounding the stadium will be partially or fully restricted from Wednesday to Aug 30 to guarantee traffic management and ensure public safety during the event.

According to Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, Jalan Mahkamah will be completely blocked from Aug 26 to 30. Meanwhile, Jalan Cempaka Putih, Jalan Cempaka Kuning, Jalan Stadium, and Jalan Cheras will undergo stage closures. The temporary blockages for rehearsals will occur between 8.30am and 10.30am, and 7pm to 10pm on Aug 28, and again from 7pm to 10pm on Aug 29.

Naazron advised drivers to plan their trips and utilize alternative routes to avoid congestion near the venue. Motorists are asked to follow the directives of police officers stationed at the scene. Organizers have designated parking areas and shuttle bus services operating from multiple major rail stations, such as Sungai Jernih, Bukit Dukung MRT, Jalan Bukit MRT, Jalan Reko LRT, and Kajang 2 LRT stations.

Medical personnel, including ambulances from Kajang Hospital, St John Ambulance, Kajang Plaza Medical Centre, and the Malaysian Armed Forces, will be positioned at strategic points during the event.
