Houston Texans strengthen roster by acquiring WR Kayshon Boutte from New England Patriots

Houston Texans bolstered their roster on Monday by obtaining wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots, filling a void left by the injury to key player Jayden Higgins. Boutte, a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, has demonstrated his value since entering the league, tallying 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns in his inaugural season.

The Texans dispatched safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for Boutte, as reported by multiple sources. This trade comes after the Patriots acquired receiver A.J. Brown in June and signed Romeo Doubs to a lucrative four-year, $68 million contract in March, creating a logjam at the position.

Houston had previously signed veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard this weekend in an effort to address the void left by Higgins' ACL tear sustained during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday. Higgins, the rookie who was expected to start alongside star Nico Collins, contributed 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns last season.
