S'pore pet transporter, 43, wants to abolish stigma that 'Muslims cannot handle dogs'

A 43-year-old pet transporter in Singapore, Eiman Abd, aims to dispel the notion that Muslims cannot handle dogs. Eiman shared his story in an Instagram video posted on August 10 by petpriorityservices. He emphasized that being a Muslim and working with pets are not mutually exclusive, as his faith teaches him values such as patience, cleanliness, honesty, and compassion. These qualities are integral to his daily work.

Eiman previously worked as a delivery driver before starting Pet Priority Services, a professional and reliable pet transportation service. He aimed to address the issue that pet owners were too busy to take their pets to the vet or for grooming. Logistics expertise has proven beneficial for Eiman in terms of route planning and ensuring security during transport.

While transporting pets like cats, dogs, rabbits, and turtles, Eiman follows strict religious hygiene procedures before and after contact with the animals. He noted that his initial reluctance towards interacting with dogs was overcome through hands-on experience and a dog handling course. He learned to observe body language, respect safety boundaries, and avoid forcing interaction with dogs.

Eiman's family and friends have been supportive of his work, praising his bravery in confronting the stigma surrounding Muslims and dogs. He aims to abolish this stigma, urging people to be loving and respectful towards all animals.
