Robles acude mañana al Congreso para explicar la crisis en Ceuta con el foco en el CNI y el papel de Marruecos

Ministera de Defensa Margarita Robles will appear before the Defense Committee in Congress tomorrow to address the crisis that has erupted in Ceuta due to the massive influx of immigrants from Morocco. The focus of her testimony will be on whether the National Intelligence Center (CNI) had prior knowledge of the influx and Morocco's role in it.

Robles is the first of eight government members to appear in the House of Representatives over the course of the week to report on their respective departments' actions regarding the migrant crisis. She had initially indicated her willingness to testify in the Senate at the request of the People's Party (PP), but later ruled out this option citing the need for more time to prepare.

Robles has been the only minister to diverge from the official discourse of Pedro Sánchez's administration on the massive influx, urging Morocco not to interfere with Ceuta and Melilla and blaming Rabat for the situation. She stated that those responsible for the crisis, whether the mafias or those who consented to or tolerated it, must assume their responsibilities.

Several ministers have agreed to define Morocco as a reliable and loyal partner. Robles took advantage of these statements to defend and acknowledge the work of the CNI and the Center for Military Intelligence (CIFAS). Throughout the proceedings, she emphasized the challenging conditions under which these intelligence services operate.

The information available to Spanish intelligence and authorities prior to the mass entry remains unclear and will be a key point of inquiry during Robles' testimony. Additionally, she will address the living and working conditions of the military personnel deployed in Ceuta due to the migrant crisis. Over a dozen soldiers have contracted scarlet fever and military associations are demanding wage supplements for those stationed in the autonomous city, similar to the additional pay already approved for national police officers.

The ministerial round on Ceuta will continue on Thursday with appearances by the Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños; and the Minister of Health, Mónica García. On Friday, it will be the turn of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Europe, and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares; and the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, Elma Saiz.

The week will conclude with appearances by the Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego; and the Minister for Equality, Ana Redondo.
