La delegación de Sanidad ya está en Ceuta para evaluar el impacto de la crisis migratoria en la atención sanitaria

The Ministry of Health delegation, led by Secretary of State for Health and President of the National Health Management Institute (Ingesa), Javier Padilla, is currently in Ceuta to assess the impact of the migration crisis on the city's health services. The delegation will hold several meetings with technical staff and political figures from the Ministry responsible for the health competencies of the autonomous city.

Padilla may remain in Ceuta for several days as part of this visit, which follows a previous trip by Health Minister Mónica García to the Health Commission in Congress for an extraordinary session to explain her handling of the crisis. The minister's visit was marred by controversy, as she criticized the local government's management for not doing enough to accommodate the arriving immigrants, labeling their alerts about potential financial burden or system saturation as xenophobia.

Ceuta's President, Juan Jesús Vivas (PP), responded the following day, emphasizing that no one can lecture Ceuta on solidarity and calling Padilla's behavior "absolutely incorrect" for attempting to shift responsibility onto the autonomous government. The Ministry of Health has also convened an emergency meeting for autonomous communities to supply vaccines to the thousands of irregularly settled immigrants in Ceuta following a massive influx from Morocco starting July 30, involving approximately 80,000 people.

As Health Minister Mónica García stated on X social media, the Health Commission meeting takes place this Monday in continuity with the previous vaccine committee meeting held the previous week, with the aim of facilitating the donation of vaccines to Ceuta while the city government acquires additional doses under its jurisdiction.

The meeting, scheduled for 12:00 PM via videoconference, has a single agenda item: the solidarity mechanism for vaccines in relation to the Ceuta situation. The requested vaccines include triple vaccine, chickenpox, polio, tetanus, and diphtheria.
