Rev. Wengam re-elected General Superintendent of Assemblies of God

Stephen Yenusom Wengam, also known as Rev. Wengam, has been re-elected as the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Ghana. The 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting was held at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region. Wengam, who serves as the Head Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel in East Legon, secured 89.61% of the votes, receiving 3,727 votes out of 4,159 valid ballots cast.

His opponent, Rev. Dr. Kwame B. Bansah, garnered 10.39% with 432 votes. Seven ballots were rejected, resulting in a total of 4,166 ballots cast. Wengam's four-year term marks a significant increase in his electoral support, as he achieved 61% support in 2019 during his first election. He thanked delegates for their support and all participants for contributing to the church's democratic process.

Wengam emphasized that the election was peaceful, fair, and transparent, urging members to move beyond the contest and unite for the church's collective task of building it. The re-election marks the selection of the church's top leadership team for the next four years, with Rev. Dr. Kwadwo Bempah elected as Assistant General Superintendent, Rev.

Dr. Albert Anane as General Secretary, and Rev. Simon Abu Baba as General Treasurer. Rev. Wengam stated that his second term would focus on advancing the church's transformation agenda and implementing strategic initiatives, including the Centenary City Project to commemorate the church's 100th anniversary.
