PH perlu strategi baharu dan pakatan lebih inklusif, kata Tian Chua

Malaysia's opposition leader Tian Chua is urging Pakatan Harapan (PH) to adopt a new political and coalition strategy that is more inclusive compared to the current three-party model consisting of PKR, DAP, and Amanah. Chua, who recently rejoined PKR following his expulsion in 2023, argues that many movements and parties share the aspiration for an inclusive Malaysia.

He emphasizes that the size or number of personnel within a party or organization is not the primary consideration, as the key factor is their shared vision. Chua encourages finding ways to accommodate these groups and coordinate efforts. However, he acknowledges that ultimately, a political party must contest elections and field candidates, though this is a technical consideration.

Chua stresses that constituency allocation should not be the primary focus, and instead, candidates should be chosen based on merit and their ability to garner voter support. He also asserts that PKR must build itself as a resilient movement that can withstand the current government and President Anwar Ibrahim's tenure. The main goal is to create a party with ideals and principles, not just to maintain power during the upcoming election cycle and then seek new leaders for subsequent elections.

Crucially, Chua emphasizes that PKR needs to be rebuilt from its core, revitalizing its diversity, approaching society, and making supporters feel that the movement truly belongs to the people. According to him, PKR's experience in the government should be a collective skill that helps the party become a better government. This call for PKR to start building a new generation of leaders was also echoed by his deputy, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, last week.

She stressed that the party needs to give birth to leaders capable of continuing the reform agenda and guiding the nation in the post-Anwar era.
