Pekerja kedai makan didakwa gagal jelaskan wang RM107,440 dalam bank

A 48-year-old food stall worker, Muhamad Fadzli Wahab, appeared before Sungai Petani District Court, pleading not guilty to 55 charges of failing to explain the source of RM107,440 in his bank account. The charges were read out to him by Magistrate Muhammad Syaiful Akmal Mohamad Razi and Magistrate Noor Farah Hazwani Osman. According to the allegations, Fadzli was alleged to have possessed between RM800 and RM5,000 in his bank account, which was suspected to have been obtained fraudulently, and failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the entire RM107,440 in the account.

The alleged offenses took place at Maybank Taman Ria Jaya cash deposit machine between 16 February 2023 and 26 June 2025, in violation of Section 29(1) of the Small Offences Act 1955. If convicted, Fadzli could face a fine of up to RM1,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both. The prosecution was handled by Deputy Prosecutor Adlin Sufiya Kamarulzaman and Nur Hazwani Md Noor, while Fadzli was represented by counsel Audrey Wee Li Ye, who sought a low bond as her son only earns RM50 a day working at a food stall and is supporting three children aged between 10 and 17 who are still in school.

The court subsequently ordered the defendant to post RM29,000 bail with a surety and set a retrial date for 27 September.
