Logitech hit by sueball over tariff refunds

A lawsuit has been filed against peripheral manufacturer Logitech, alleging the company withheld tariff refunds from customers. The complaint, filed in a California District Court, requests the return of proceeds from the invalidated tariffs. As US tariffs were imposed on imports, companies quickly passed them on to US customers, causing higher prices for the same items.

Logitech, like other tech firms, raised retail prices across half of its product catalog, by an average of about 14 percent, with some products seeing price increases as high as 25 percent. The complaint states that Logitech's own executives and securities filings confirm the price increases were in response to the IEEPA tariffs.

However, the US Supreme Court ruled that the IEEPA did not authorize the US President to impose tariffs. The US Customs Border Protection issued an order directing the refund of IEEPA duties. According to the complaint, Logitech received a full refund of $61 million for the invalidated tariffs. Instead of returning the money to customers, Logitech recorded the entire $61 million as a reduction of cost of goods sold in Q1 of FY2027.

The complaint alleges that Logitech has kept both the refund and the consumer overcharge. Logitech has not yet responded to a request for comment. The tech firm is not alone in facing complaints over tariffs and refunds; Microsoft and Nintendo have also been sued over similar issues.
