Johor unveils economic transformation plan for Batu Pahat with Advanced Manufacturing Park proposal and RM3.78 million in priority projects

Johor's Menteri Besar, Dato' Onn Hafiz Ghazi, unveiled the Johor State Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) for Batu Pahat during a visit to the district. The strategy aims to position Batu Pahat as a center for high-value manufacturing, Industry 4.0 talent development, and improved logistics connectivity. A key proposal is the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) intended to attract high-value manufacturing industries to the area.

This aligns with Johor's industrial development under the JS-SEZ framework, expanding momentum beyond the Iskandar Puteri corridor into the southern districts.

The JETP for Batu Pahat also emphasizes automation, Industry 4.0 skills development, and enhancing logistics networks linking the district to the NSE-WCE corridor. These infrastructure improvements are expected to strengthen Batu Pahat's integration into Johor's supply chain ecosystem, making the district a more competitive investment destination.

The State Government approved RM3.78 million for the implementation of 25 priority projects across Batu Pahat, including RM500,000 for community initiatives supporting over 100 associations and organizations in the district, including Tionghua community associations met by the Menteri Besar. Additionally, the visit included the handover of Johor Affordable Housing units to 45 families, showcasing the government's commitment to translating economic growth into tangible benefits for residents.

Batu Pahat's inclusion in the JETP framework indicates that Johor's economic transformation goals extend beyond the JS-SEZ's core in Iskandar Puteri. By proposing an AMP in Batu Pahat and connecting it to major roadways, the state government is strategically positioning additional districts to benefit from the investment wave expected from the JS-SEZ, distributing economic opportunities across Johor instead of concentrating them in a single zone.
