JAMB moves to condone illegally admitted students in colleges

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed all colleges of education across Nigeria to provide complete lists of students who were admitted illegally. This directive comes after the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, approved the condonation of such candidates for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

JAMB's Director of Admissions, Mohammed Babaji, wrote to the provosts of the institutions, requesting the disclosure of all candidates whose admissions fall within the approved category. The submission should be in Excel format and follow the attached template. JAMB emphasized the importance of providing accurate and complete information, warning that any false declaration or omission will not be condoned.

The purpose of this exercise is to enable JAMB to process and consider the cases in line with the ministerial approval. Illegal admissions in Nigeria's tertiary education system have been a long-standing concern, and JAMB is responsible for regulating admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other degree- and diploma-awarding institutions.
