I want to love the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, but one silly change is stopping me

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google's latest foldable smartphone, is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It also features slimmer bezels and improved screens, supporting faster 25W Qi2 wireless charging. However, Google made an unexpected change to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which is a deal-breaker for one reviewer.

To make the Pixel 11 Pro Fold about 1mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the device's thickness became asymmetrical. One side of the foldable phone is slightly thicker than the other, and this difference is clear when observed. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the first foldable phone from Google to feature two halves with differing thicknesses, a design choice that stands out immediately upon unfolding the device.

While the visual difference may seem insignificant to some, it significantly affects the device's feel when held in hand. The thinner side, where the cover display is located, is noticeably thicker than the other side. This uneven thickness can be felt, especially during one-handed use, as the two sides don't blend together to create a flat surface.

Multiple users, including a reviewer's partner, have expressed their displeasure with the uneven thickness, with some finding it difficult to ignore. Despite the design choice, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold still boasts features like Qi2 and IP68 durability, as well as slim bezels, bright screens, and faster charging. However, the reviewer feels that Google could have found another way to achieve the phone's slim profile without introducing this asymmetry.
