Government on US Ambassador Sergio Gor’s remarks: Donald Trump unpredictable, so took cautious approach

US Ambassador Sergio Gor publicly stated that India had requested the US administration not to hold a full press conference and allow no questions after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This came after Gor recounted a conversation with Trump in which the President requested the inclusion of a press conference and media scrutiny during their meeting in June.

Despite this request, Trump proceeded to engage with the press following the meeting, garnering a 45-minute press conference. The government responded to Gor's remarks by emphasizing the "cautious approach" India took towards Trump's unpredictable behavior, citing previous interactions with other world leaders such as Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy and South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa.
