17-year-old girl gangraped in Madhya Pradesh’s Pachmarhi forest, three arrested

In Madhya Pradesh's Pachmarhi forest, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men after being taken with a male acquaintance to a remote area, according to police reports. The incident occurred last week, and the survivor reported the assault to Pachmarhi police on Monday. A police spokesperson stated that the girl and her acquaintance were approached by a friend of the acquaintance, who brought along two others.

The trio allegedly transported the victim and her acquaintance to a secluded spot, where they threatened and sexually assaulted the teenager before dropping them off. The victim's complaint led to the swift deployment of multiple police teams, and all three accused were apprehended within six hours of the initial report. Narmadapuram Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Rajan confirmed that the suspects have admitted to the crime and are currently being presented in court.

Charges have been filed under Section 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with gang rape, along with offenses related to causing hurt voluntarily, criminal intimidation, and common intention. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) provisions have also been invoked.
