Fever win at Chicago, Mercedes Russell plays 14 minutes for Indiana

The Indiana Fever secured a victory over the Chicago Sky, winning 113-90 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The match drew a crowd of 9,248 fans. Mercedes Russell, a former Lady Vol, made her fourth appearance with the Fever on August 10. She contributed three points, one rebound, and three assists in the game, successfully shooting 3-of-4 free throws.

Leading the scoring for Indiana was guard Caitlin Clark, who registered 37 points, 10 assists, and three rebounds. Clark shot proficiently, going 13-of-24 from the field, 8-of-12 from beyond the three-point line, and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points to the team's total. Russell was selected in the first round of the 2018 WNBA draft (No. 22 overall) by the New York Liberty.

She has played for the Liberty, Seattle, and Los Angeles during her career, winning two championships (2018, 2020). Russell also played professionally in Turkey and China and was a key player for Tennessee from 2013 to 2018, making 120 appearances and starting in 87 of them. She hails from Springfield High School in Springfield, Oregon.
