DPK leader orders launch of task force to promote political unity

The leader of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), Kim Min-seok, has announced the formation of a task force on Monday with the goal of promoting political unity and enhancing cooperation among various parties. During a meeting of the party's supreme council, Kim declared that the task force, under his direct supervision, will work diligently to forge stronger connections between different political factions.

He emphasized the importance of forming "an unbreakable bridge of dialogue with the main opposition People Power Party, and a bridge of political solidarity for the future with progressive and liberal parties." Kim also revealed that Park Beom-kye, a four-term DPK lawmaker, will head this task force. This action has raised speculation about Kim's potential efforts to reunite with the minor Rebuilding Korea Party, a previous attempt under his predecessor, Jung Chung-rae, which ultimately failed.

Furthermore, Kim announced the creation of another task force to investigate issues that emerged during the recent DPK leadership election and propose amendments to the party's election system. This new task force will primarily consist of external experts.
