Cancer can mimic ulcers, Aproko Doctor warns following Ogogo’s passing

Nigerian health educator Aproko Doctor has warned that certain types of cancer can initially present symptoms that may be mistaken for common illnesses like an ulcer. Responding to questions about how veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, also known as Ogogo, could have been diagnosed with stage-four cancer while appearing healthy, Aproko Doctor emphasized that looking healthy does not guarantee internal wellness.

He explained that some cancers, particularly stomach cancer, can cause symptoms similar to those of an ulcer. Aproko Doctor stressed that while an ulcer itself does not turn into cancer, the symptoms could be indicative of underlying stomach cancer. He advised individuals experiencing persistent stomach pain, unexplained weight loss, repeated vomiting, loss of appetite, difficulty swallowing, or rapid fullness to seek medical evaluation instead of merely relying on ulcer medication.

Aproko Doctor cautioned against assuming these symptoms automatically indicated cancer but emphasized the importance of investigating the underlying cause. He urged Nigerians not to panic at the first sign of stomach pain, as most cases are not cancer-related, and treating potentially undiagnosed conditions could be detrimental. The health educator expressed condolences to Ogogo's family and mourners, wishing them peace.
