Bangladeshi man arrested after woman alleges sexual assault on LRT

A Bangladeshi man has been apprehended following allegations of a sexual assault on a woman aboard a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train in Kuala Lumpur. The incident took place on August 19, according to Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid. The assault allegedly occurred around 8:30am as the victim was traveling from Wangsa Maju station towards Pasar Seni station.

The victim reportedly noticed the suspect before the assault occurred. Khairul Anuar stated that a police report was filed and an investigation launched under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which pertains to assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty. The suspect was apprehended by Prasarana auxiliary police at Pasar Seni LRT station approximately 11:30am on August 20. A remand order was granted for four days to aid the ongoing investigation.
