Adult, betting, AI websites dominate Nigerian web traffic in July – Report

In July 2026, Nigerian internet users heavily engaged with adult, betting, and artificial intelligence (AI) websites, according to data from Semrush’s Traffic Analytics tool. Google was the most visited website, with 318.45 million visits, followed by YouTube with 46.42 million visits. XVideos, a popular adult website, ranked third with 37.64 million visits, while SportyBet, a betting site, came in fourth with 36.28 million visits.

ChatGPT, an AI platform, ranked fifth with 35.32 million visits, marking a 9.81 percent increase from the previous month and a 33.43 percent increase year-on-year. Facebook, at sixth with 32.85 million visits, and WhatsApp, ranking seventh with 18.32 million visits, also saw notable engagement. LiveScore, an AI-based sports website, was eighth with 15.46 million visits.

Adult platforms XNXX and XNXX (XNXX) appeared in the rankings at 15th and 16th positions, respectively, with 15.42 million and 15.41 million visits. X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram followed, with 15.17 million and 14.32 million visits, respectively. TikTok ranked 12th with 13.38 million visits, while Bet9ja and Thenkiri were 13th and 14th, respectively, with 11.61 million and 10.86 million visits.

Claude, another AI platform, was 15th with 10.23 million visits, seeing an 11.4 percent month-on-month increase and a 440.86 percent year-on-year surge. Despite its dominance, Google's traffic declined by 6.58 percent month-on-month and 11.13 percent year-on-year. Facebook’s traffic dropped by 38.92 percent year-on-year, and X's traffic fell by 23.16 percent over the same period.

TikTok, however, experienced a 16.49 percent year-on-year increase. Semrush’s monthly ranking is based on data from their Traffic Analytics tool and reflects online activity from over 200 million anonymized users.
