Adult, betting, AI websites dominate Nigerian web traffic in July – Report

In July 2026, adult, betting, and artificial intelligence websites were the most visited in Nigeria, according to Semrush's Traffic Analytics tool. Google led the list with 318.45 million visits, followed by YouTube with 46.42 million visits. XVideos, a pornographic website, ranked third with 37.64 million visits, while SportyBet, a betting site, came fourth with 36.28 million visits.

ChatGPT, an AI platform, ranked fifth with 35.32 million visits, a 9.81% increase from the previous month and a 33.43% increase year-on-year. Facebook and WhatsApp followed, with 32.85 million and 18.32 million visits, respectively, ranking sixth and seventh. LiveScore, an AI platform, ranked eighth with 15.46 million visits, while adult websites XNXX and X (formerly Twitter) ranked ninth and tenth with 15.42 million and 15.17 million visits.

Instagram and TikTok ranked eleventh and twelfth with 14.32 million and 13.38 million visits, respectively. Bet9ja and Thenkiri ranked thirteenth and fourteenth with 11.61 million and 10.86 million visits. Claude, another AI platform, ranked fifteenth with 10.23 million visits, recording an 11.4% month-on-month increase and a 440.86% year-on-year increase.

Semrush noted that Google's traffic declined by 6.58% month-on-month and 11.13% year-on-year, while YouTube's traffic dropped by 4.17% month-on-month and 6.25% year-on-year. Facebook saw a 38.92% year-on-year decline, while X experienced a 23.16% year-on-year decrease. TikTok, however, saw a 16.49% year-on-year increase in traffic.
