Actor Kim Soo-hyun makes 1st public appearance in 17 months

Seoul, August 24 - After a 17-month hiatus, actor Kim Soo-hyun made his debut public appearance on a live broadcast commemorating the 37th anniversary of RCTI, a prominent Indonesian television network. The Korean star expressed gratitude to the channel for the invitation and performed the original soundtrack from the 2011 school drama "Dream High."

Kim Soo-hyun's return to the public eye follows a controversy involving conservative YouTuber Kim Se-ui, who was arrested in March 2025 for spreading false and fabricated claims about Kim's relationship with the late actress, who had died at the age of 24. Kim had publicly acknowledged his relationship with the actress, while disputing the claims that it occurred when she was a minor.

Subsequently, Kim filed defamation lawsuits against the YouTuber and the deceased actress's family. Recently, police dismissed the underage dating charge against Kim due to the absence of evidence. The actor is scheduled to visit the Philippines in October to take part in a fan event arranged by a local fashion brand.
