Yash Defends Toxic Amid Backlash Over Women's Portrayal At Hyderabad Pre-Release Event: 'Girls Will Have A Blast' - VIDEO

During the pre-release event for his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Kannada actor Yash took to addressing the criticism surrounding the portrayal of women in the movie's trailer. At Malla Reddy University on Saturday, August 22, the actor defended director Geetu Mohandas, asserting that the film would offer a unique perspective on women that differs from what viewers might have gathered from the trailer.

Turning his focus toward the women in the audience, Yash highlighted the difficulties women face in both the industry and society. He pointed out that the journey to achieve something in life is twice as challenging for women, and society may not fully accept this. Despite this, Yash emphasized that everyone will inevitably be judged by others.

Yash stated his intent to collaborate with Mohandas, despite industry expectations that he might opt for a more commercially successful filmmaker after the success of KGF. He clarified that he had no need for wealth and was recognized not for his money but for his work. He also addressed the bold scenes in the Tabaahi song, comparing it favorably to the criticism surrounding the trailer.

Clarifying that the trailer did not capture the full essence of the film, Yash affirmed that women are given a voice in Toxic, which the trailer may not have conveyed. He concluded by encouraging the women present to watch the film, promising them an enjoyable and memorable experience. Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth, is scheduled for release on August 26 in theaters.
