Wyndham Clark takes 5-shot lead into final round at BMW Championship

Wyndham Clark extended his lead to five strokes into the final round of the BMW Championship, shooting a 5-under-par 65 to climb to 17-under 193. Clark, the 2023 US Open champion, expressed his nervousness about the upcoming final round, noting that he feels most anxious when he wakes up and realizes it's time to play. He had a double bogey at the beginning of the round but then hit an eagle on the par-5 8th hole, which put him 2-under on the front nine.

Clark followed up with four birdies on the back nine, but bogeyed the 18th hole. Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy were tied at 2-under, while Cantlay shot a bogie-free back nine. McIlroy, who finished 66th in the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week, expressed his frustration about his inconsistent performance but remained optimistic about his chances in the final round.

Cantlay, who has won the BMW Championship twice before, is aiming for his first 2026 victory. Gary Woodland and Chris Gotterup are tied for fourth at 11-under, while Collin Morikawa and Sungjae Im are sixth and seventh at 10-under and 9-under, respectively.
