Verstappen crashes out of home Dutch GP on opening lap

Max Verstappen suffered a crash during the opening lap of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on Sunday, causing the race to be halted. The Red Bull driver, a four-time Formula One world champion, informed his team via radio that he was alright. Verstappen's vehicle struck the concrete wall on the outside of a banked corner and skidded back across the track.

A broken wheel detached and scattered debris throughout the area. The Dutch native, who has previously claimed the Dutch GP three times and started the race in seventh position, exited the car unassisted at the Zandvoort circuit, which will be removed from the F1 calendar following this year's event.
