All poets across the globe are same, they stand for peace, love, says Savitha Nagabhushan

Renowned poet Savitha Nagabhushan emphasized that poets worldwide share the same core values of peace, love, and humanity. During the inauguration of a ghazal poets' meeting organized by the Karnataka Ghazal Academy in Shivamogga, she stated that words such as love, peace, and humanity are intrinsically linked to poetry, while their opposites—war, unrest, and frustration—are not.

She asserted that without poetry, no world could exist, highlighting that ghazal poetry embodies devotion and offering, rooted in love. Though ghazal had historically been popular in north Karnataka, events like this are now expanding its reach to the Malnad region. Nagabhushan described ghazal as a bridge of love and a form of sensitive expression that has evolved from Persia to India, growing stronger in this country.

She further emphasized that poets are born to spread love and humanity, and there can be no poetry that advocates for evil. Kashinath Ambalage, who chaired the previous convention, stressed the importance of opposing forces that spread communal hatred and weaken democratic institutions. Despite the challenging times, they expressed hope due to the awareness of Gen Z generation and the active questioning by the youth.

Several ghazal poets from across the state, including Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur, and Chitradurga, participated in the event. Noted ghazal poet Siddarama Hiremath of Kudligi was scheduled to chair the event but could not attend due to health issues. Rathna K. Bhat of Puttur received an award named after Mirza Ghalib. S.P. Dinesh, president of the Graduates’ Cooperative Society in Shivamogga, presented the award.

Rangaswamy Siddaiah, the founder president of the organization, and Haseena Khadri, the convener of the event, were also present.
