Skubal shakes off 3-run first inning, then settles in to dominate for his 1st win as a Dodger

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Tarik Skubal emerged from a shaky start to deliver a dominant performance, clinching his first win since joining the defending World Series champions. In the first inning, Skubal left the Dodgers trailing 3-0 as he issued three consecutive hits that resulted in three runs. However, the two-time Cy Young Award winner regrouped and displayed the exceptional skills that attracted him to the Dodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Detroit Tigers.

Skubal struck out 11 batters, including one off his season best, to secure a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Manager Dave Roberts praised Skubal's performance, stating that he is "very physical" and capable of delivering in crucial moments. Despite a rough start, Skubal retired 20 of his final 23 batters, allowing only five hits and one walk.

He maintained his fastball velocity throughout the game, reaching 99 mph to strike out Jared Triolo and exceeding 100 mph on his final pitch to Jake Mangum. Skubal acknowledged that he needs to improve in the first inning but expressed confidence in his pitching abilities, noting that his command of the ball has always been strong.
