Support women's quota implementation, full Vande Mataram rendition: BJP to Rahul Gandhi

BJP spokesperson Smriti Irani urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to back the implementation of a 33% reservation for women in legislatures and to organize the full rendition of Vande Mataram at his party office. This request came after Mr. Gandhi urged young girls to challenge patriarchy and criticized Manusmriti's mindset, which he claimed forces women to remain under male authority.

The Congress leader had previously stated that violence is widespread in society to hinder women's progress and that 80% of them face harassment. Mr. Irani emphasized that the Hindu religious ethos honors women and worships Goddesses like Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati, with Durga being the embodiment of Shakti. She further urged the Congress leader to act on his words by supporting the reservation bill and performing a complete Vande Mataram at the party office.
