Embattled Infantino says Fifa must close financial gap between ‘big countries’ and ‘others’

Fifa President Gianni Infantino has stated that his organization must address the financial disparity between prosperous football federations and those with limited resources. Infantino made this assertion in a video interview following meetings with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) in the Dominican Republic. Despite his re-election campaign next year, several regional powers, including Uefa, AFC, and CONCACAF, are contemplating a vote of no confidence against him.

Infantino emphasized that Fifa's responsibility is to expand football globally, including providing opportunities and resources to all 211 member federations, not just the wealthy ones. He highlighted his satisfaction with the CFU's reception at the under-14 Challenge Series, but acknowledged the growing opposition to his leadership.
