2027: Abia APC forgives Kalu, Nkwonta for backing Otti for second term

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has forgiven Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Chris Nkwonta, for their support of Governor Alex Otti's candidacy for the 2027 term. This decision was made at a stakeholders post-primary reconciliation meeting held at the party's secretariat in Umuahia.

The decision to forgive Kalu and Nkwonta was proposed by Uzor Azubuike, the candidate for Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, and seconded by Emmanuel Ndubuisi, the member representing Bende South Federal Constituency. The motion was ratified by a voice vote at the meeting. The Abia APC Chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, explained that the two party members and others had privately approached the party leadership to clarify the reasons behind their support for Otti.

However, Chukwu cautioned that any future anti-party statements would result in severe consequences. He emphasized the importance of unity and focus within the party, as it is crucial for unseating the ruling Labour Party in Abia. Additionally, Chukwu informed the attendees that the unauthorized suspension of several APC ward leaders in various local government areas has been reinstated.
