Anti-party remarks: Abia APC lifts ultimatum on Kalu, Nkwonta

The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has lifted an ultimatum against Senator Orji Kalu and Representative Chris Nkwonta, who were given 14 days to apologize for allegedly making anti-party remarks about Governor Alex Otti. This decision was made after a stakeholders' meeting held at the party's secretariat in Umuahia. The party had earlier criticized statements attributed to Kalu and Nkwonta, stating they were "unstatesmanlike, irresponsible, embarrassing and inimical" to the party's unity and electoral prospects.

The State Working Committee of the party had expressed disappointment over Kalu's declaration that Otti would win the 2027 governorship election and Nkwonta's reported statement that he would vote for Otti. However, at the meeting, it was decided that the issues would be resolved privately, and the two leaders were given the opportunity to explain their actions.

The party's candidate for Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Uzor Azubuike, moved a motion for an unconditional pardon, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party.
