Wanita maut dihempap tiang besi tumbang dirempuh kereta

A woman died after being struck by a steel beam that fell from the air due to a car being rear-ended in a food court in Cheras Central Market, early this morning. Kajang Police Chief Naazron Abdul Yusof stated that around 1:15 am, a male local driver, aged 35, drove into a food court while the driver was believed to be impaired by fuel.

He said the male then tried to drive out of the food court before the 47-year-old victim allegedly ran towards the car in an attempt to prevent or stop it. "When the driver swerved the car to exit the food court, his car struck a steel beam causing it to fall and hit the victim's head, resulting in her death at the scene," he said in a statement today.

Naazron said the injured driver was taken to the hospital for treatment before being detained to assist the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. He said the 47-year-old victim had no previous driving record. The public is urged to contact Inspector Mohd Raziman Rasid at 019-4565502 or the nearest police station with any information related to the incident to aid the investigation.
