Round Valley grinds out 3A football win over Seton Catholic

Round Valley edged out Seton Catholic in a 3A football game on Friday night, Aug. 21, with a final score of 30-14. Round Valley's star player was out for the first month due to injury, and some players cramp up on the sidelines in the third quarter. Despite these challenges, quarterback Kage Finch led the Elks to victory. The host team, Chandler Seton Catholic, had previously faced Round Valley twice last year, but this year they were a tougher-minded football team.

Round Valley had to adapt to playing in 106-degree heat at kickoff, while Seton is not accustomed to such high temperatures. However, Round Valley improved as the game progressed. Seton, under new coach Matthew Hanshaw, utilized their entire playbook with quarterback Brady Hayes completing 33 passes, but he struggled with limited room to maneuver.

Round Valley could be without star running back/cornerback Brody Crick until mid-season, as well as starting slot receiver/safety J.J. Logan, who is out for three weeks due to injury. Despite these setbacks, Finch's late-game performances secured the win for Round Valley.
