TalentCorp selesai proses permohonan REP profesional perubatan hingga Julai

TalentCorp announced that it will continue to work with Kesuma, KKM, MPM, and related regulatory bodies to improve the process of returning healthcare professionals and health workers to Malaysia under the Professional Return Programme (REP). (Picture from Bernama) PETALING JAYA: All applications under the TalentCorp's REP for healthcare professionals and health workers received until last month have now been processed.

TalentCorp stated that complete applications for this category are typically processed within about 60 working days, depending on the schedule of related board meetings. According to them, the process involves reviewing the application and supporting documents before moving to assessment and decision-making stages. For healthcare professionals and health workers from Malaysia overseas who have applied through REP, the process also includes registering as a healthcare professional to practice in Malaysia.

This includes registering with the Malaysian Medical Council (MPM) and the National Specialist Register (NSR), if applicable. TalentCorp said the applications of this category are also subjected to additional technical assessment through the Joint Working Committee for Healthcare Talent (JWC-HT), which comprises TalentCorp, the Ministry of Health (KKM), MPM, and relevant regulatory bodies and healthcare professionals.

Since REP was launched in 2011, a total of 774 applications from healthcare professionals and health workers have been received, with 495 approved and 351 healthcare workers have returned to Malaysia. TalentCorp noted that if MPM or NSR registration is still pending, applications meeting the REP requirements can still continue for assessment and consideration for conditional approval.

"Only full approval and benefits under REP can be granted after the relevant MPM and NSR registration is completed and evidence of registration submitted," it added. TalentCorp said it has been cooperating with KKM to investigate the REP process for healthcare professionals and health workers, including a meeting with KKM's chairman on June 22 last year.

This follows the directive from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for the Ministry of Human Resources (MHR) to review TalentCorp's applicant control, including the applications of doctors wishing to return to service in Malaysia. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had previously said Anwar wanted KHM to report the findings to the Cabinet.

REP is TalentCorp's program to facilitate Malaysian nationals working overseas to return home, including through incentives and specific facilities. Eligibility requirements include being a Malaysian citizen, having worked abroad for at least three years, and submitting an application before returning to Malaysia. TalentCorp said it will continue to work with Kesuma, KKM, MPM, and related regulatory bodies to improve the REP professional return process and hopes to strengthen coordination through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to make the process faster and more thorough.
